Characteristics

The observatory of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cameroon, implemented by APME, aims to collect, produce and make available useful information on, by and for SMEs, as well as to improve decision-making tools thanks to the information collected.

The mechanism takes the form of a workshop to support the decision-making process, during which a multitude of important deliverables for SMEs are produced, such as:

  • A guide for business creators; A directory of financial and non-financial support sources for SMEs;
  • Three SME conjuncture memos;
  • An annual report on the situation of SMEs in the country;
  • Information monitoring memos; A detailed database of enterprises created;
  • The results of an opinion survey on the level of modernisation of Cameroonian SMEs.

The workshop also provides an opportunity to learn how to popularise exploratory studies: surveys, studies, consultations, targeted editions and publications. The mechanism is only accessible to Cameroonians in Cameroon and those in the diaspora.
