MBI - Maghrib Belgium Impulse

Maghrib Belgium Impulse is a programme that supports entrepreneurs and project leaders from the Moroccan diaspora in Belgium to implement and accelerate their investments in Morocco.

Pre-creation:

Submission criteria :  

  • Adult individuals of Moroccan or Belgian nationality with emotional and/or social ties to Morocco;
  • Residing (legally) in Belgium (or having lived (legally) in Belgium for a minimum of 2 years in the 5 years preceding the project application);
  • Knowledge of French or Arabic or English; Commitment to devote part of their time to the management and monitoring of their project;
  • Relevance and suitability of their experience to the project;
  • Not subject to a banking ban in Belgium or Morocco;
  • Not subject to a legal investigation in Belgium or Morocco.

Selection criteria:

  • Shareholders/team, Quality of the shareholders, Experience;
  • Project: Concept, Nature of the project and sectors of activity, Belgium-Morocco relations, Viability of the project and sustainability, CSR, Environment, HR/Organisation chart/Training;
  • Profitability: Turnover, margins, profitability, financing plan;
  • General assessment: Probability of project success, Relevance of the support  

Post-creation:

Submission criteria:

  • Company under Moroccan law less than 5 years old;
  • Legal entity with a majority shareholding on 30 November 2021 by one or more adult natural persons of Moroccan nationality residing in Belgium (MRE from Belgium). (Plan a commitment to maintain/stabilise the capital, provide copies of passports/CINs, etc.);
  • Additional information to be defined as the project progresses;
  • Complete application file: legal file (Model J, RC, statutes, anthropometric form), project, balance sheets if applicable, business plan.

Characteristics

The Maghrib Belgium Impulse (MBI) programme aims to mobilise the skills of Moroccans residing in Belgium in a sustainable manner by supporting productive investments to contribute to the development of the Kingdom. The programme is financed by Belgium, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and MREs, Department of Moroccans Residing Abroad and implemented by MeM by CGEM, 13th region of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises-CGEM, dedicated to Moroccan Entrepreneurs and High Potentials of the World, with the technical support of the Belgian Development Agency-Enabel.

It aims to provide selected project leaders and entrepreneurs with:

  • a specific support plan;
  • grouped and individualised coaching;
  • thematic and soft skills training in several formats;
  • a permanent and reactive hotline;
  • networking opportunities;
  • support for the administrative creation of their business;
  • support for the consolidation and acceleration of their project in Morocco.  

The needs covered by the offer:

  • Supporting project leaders and improving investment projects (examples: Referencing by Maroc PME and support on the first concluded customer contract, Certification by ONSSA, Expansion of the network with federations and sectoral associations);
  • Supporting project leaders in the verification of their investment projects in the context of the Moroccan market and supporting business creation (examples: Setting up a GPEC, Assistance for the implementation of COVID Actions: communication and logistics, Elaboration of the business plan, business steering and market segmentation);
  • Supporting business creation in Morocco (mentoring, consulting support if needed, search for financing);
  • Offering training to project leaders (examples: business taxation, business law, intercultural management, sales techniques...);
  • Organising events to bring together project leaders, the Moroccan business community (Financial Institutions, Investment Funds and Investors, Opinion Leaders) and other entrepreneurs to facilitate networking;
  • Organising a trophy ("the MBI Trophy") to reward the most innovative projects among project leaders;
  • Offering additional value-added services to the first 3 winners of the MBI Trophy (coworking space and additional coaching hours).

Calls for applications are made by means of communication campaigns, mailing and phoning campaigns, or dissemination to stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and also through the website and social networks of CGEM and project partners.

  • Submission to the MBI project (by submitting the form and the requested documents);
  • Refusal or pre-selection of the application;
  • Invitation to the Pitch in front of the jury if pre-selected or refusal notified;
  • Admission to the MBI programme or refusal notified.
